Word of the #FolkloreThursday: “uncanny” – of a landscape, person, encounter, object; unsettlingly dissonant, frightening yet familiar.
Freud’s word for this was “unheimlich”—meaning, appropriately eerily, at once both “homely” & “unhomely”.
