Word of the day: “whelm” – to overturn or capsize a hollow vessel (a boat, a heart); to bury by wave, flood, storm, avalanche (cf the Old English *hwelfan, to ‘upheave’). Thus our “overwhelmed”, “underwhelmed”. (via @RobGMacfarlane)
