In 1969, Anthony Friedkin (b.1949) began work on “The Gay Essay,” a four-year-long series documenting gay communities in Los Angeles and San Francisco. His work is regarded as the seminal documentation of LGBTQ culture in the years after Stonewall. (via @WhoresofYore)
